Ken Shamrock vs Royce Gracie

In this episode of #WorldMostDangerousPodcast, Ken Shamrock sits down in the video above and talks to us about these historic fights he had with Royce Gracie. Lets go back on how the 3 fights with Royce Gracie went down.

In the first Royce Gracie vs Ken Shamrock fight it took place on the Ultimate Fighting Championship event back on Nov. 12, 1993. The two met in the semifinals of a one-night, open-weight tournament. Ken Shamrock rolled over and exposed his back and tapped out to a choke from Gracie 57 seconds into the bout.

At Royce Gracie vs. Ken Shamrock II was called UFC's superfight championship at UFC 5 which took place on April 7, 1995. Both athletes grappled for 36:06 before the fight was ruled a draw. The entire fight was on the mat and was nothing more than a grappling match.

In their third meeting, this took place as the main event at Bellator 149 on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016. Royce Gracie was able to defeat Ken Shamrock, but it came with controversy. If you watch the video replay, it appears that Gracie kneed Shamrock below the belt, the referee misses a blatant low blow. This gave Gracie the edge to take him to the ground and after a series of hammerfists, the ref saw enough and declared this fight as a TKO (strikes) win to Gracie in the first round.

Ken Shamrock states on his Podcast: “I wasn't after the title, I wasn't after the money, I was after Royce Gracie. That's why I was there.”
